An August stroll

I get a thrill finding and looking at old photographs.
This processing of this photo was inspired by old photos that I love. Photos that depict a quieter, calmer time. When Sundays were meant for slow strolls and picnics by the river...

Lady in waiting

Lady in waiting by rosy outlook
Lady in waiting, a photo by rosy outlook on Flickr.

Hi, my name is Rosy and I'm a jewelry diva.

My new old Victorian cameo pendant /pin. Circa 1900, with a hand carved shell relief, gold filigree framing. 4 floral accents with seed pearl centers. I've paired it with a diamond cut barrel chain that I've had forever. And, in this photo, my amber and gold Italian earrings.

Jewelry is wearable art that brings me great pleasure.

In this day and age, so many women do not wear jewelry but I think it's a way of honoring yourself and your femininity.

And when it's antique jewelry like this piece, it makes me happy that I am wearing something that someone else once wore and yet, sadly, no one wanted to keep or pass on...
I wonder about the history of the piece:
Was it a gift?
Who was the woman who owned this cameo?
Did she love it?
I know I do.

About the photo:
"Photography is 10% talent, 90% moving furniture" (Annie Lebowitz)

This is natural (morning light) filtered through blinds behind me almost straight on the still life. I set it up on my dark espresso tabletop that in this light reads black. It is handheld, as I tend to move around - or move the table around to get the light and the bokeh the way I like it.
It was shot with a Canon 5D Mark II + Canon 100mm f2.8 lens
ISO 125
100mm focal length
f2.8 @ 1/1250 sec.

I find shooting morning still lifes a relaxing way to ease into my day.

TGIF

What a week, what a winter.
Longing for sunny days, road trips and a summer breeze on my skin.
